About Tillman Roots

Tillman Roots joined Pless Law Firm in 2022 as an Associate Attorney in the firm’s Austin office. With over a decade of experience as the lead general counsel attorney for one of the fastest-growing counties in the United States, Tillman brings a wealth of knowledge in real estate transactions, procurement and construction contracts, and land use matters. 

Tillman’s legal career began with an internship in Comal County’s Civil Division, where he later progressed to Assistant District Attorney and ultimately served as Lead General Counsel for the Civil Division. His role encompassed handling diverse issues in real estate and economic development while addressing the legal complexities brought about by rapid population growth in the county. Beyond managing county transactions and providing strategic counsel to elected officials, his role involved advising on subdivision plat regulations and development agreements, as well as conducting negotiations for real estate transactions. Since joining Pless Law Firm, Tillman has represented a wide range of clients, including commercial real estate brokerages, investment firms, and developers, facilitating property acquisitions and sales across the country. 

Tillman graduated from St. Mary’s University School of Law, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honors Fraternity. Prior to law school, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with a concentration in commercial real estate from Texas A&M University. 

Tillman’s leadership and service have been recognized with his inclusion in Leadership New Braunfels (2015) and the 40 Under 40 Rising Stars of New Braunfels (2017). He is also an active member of the Wurstfest Association of New Braunfels and has served on the boards of the United Way of Comal County and the Comal County Child Welfare Board, holding positions as Compliance Chair, President, and Treasurer. 

In his free time, Tillman enjoys spending time with his wife and three son. 

Recent Transactions

• Represented a retail tenant in a sublease agreement for a 50,000 square-foot warehouse space in Colorado.
• Negotiated a lease agreement for a renewable energy company to secure a 73,716 square-foot industrial space in Denver, Colorado.
• Navigated a commercial real estate developer through a dissolution of homeowner’s association and secured a property acquisition valued at $2,826,104 in Fort Collins, Colorado.
